Does Laundry Run Your Life?

Getting a handle on your laundry before it gets you. (But it's not too late if it already has).

I do laundry every single day and I love it. I can't imagine going back to life before discovering this way of living. I would save up at least a week's worth of laundry, at least before I would even touch it. Some days were better than others. I'd manage to get it all washed, dried, folded and taken care of. Other days...well, not so much. On the not so much days, my husband and I argued.

We get up at 5:00am and when he couldn't find socks, t-shirts or pants to wear to work, well, 5 am arguments just aren't that fun. I needed to come up with some sort of plan. I tried Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and started to get pretty good at keeping up with it and then I got pregnant. My laundry days were over. Between being so exhausted I couldn't sleep and feeling sick, laundry was the last thing on my mind. When my husband took over (this is after I started to feel better) I felt guilty. I stay home, this is my responsibility. That's when I did the drastic. I declared every single day laundry day.

There's a satisfaction now of having every single item of clothing clean and taken care of. It's not an insurmountable task any longer. Most days, it's just a few items. I put a load in first thing in the morning before I wake my six year old up for school and when he gets home, if I haven't already I throw it in the dryer or even right before going to bed if I've forgotten.

I know that doing laundry every day for the rest of your life doesn't sound so appealing to most. Believe me, I have my days too, but, I do find that when I'm not faced with six or seven loads in one day, my day just looks brighter all around. My laundry and general cleaning routine is much easier now that I do it this way. I hope that this works for you too!!
