13 Unique, Amazing and Classic Sofas/beds

New designers and artists have come up with fresh new designs that change the definition of the word "unique".

Yang Sofa

Create a range of different groupings using up to four left or right arm sofas. Feet are in matt chromed metal; covers fully removable. This modern sofa, a mixture of creativity and comfort, allows you to play with it. It can be interlocked to form a sofa or a sectional. You can create a range of different groupings using up to four left or right arm sofas. Designer Francois Bauchet created this brilliant Yang sofa for Ligne Roset which is now being sold at a relatively high price.

Eustachio Daybed

An amazingly inventive, artistic and extraordinary piece of furniture called Eustachio Daybed is a blissful creation by Emu. It beckons you to scale into its center of calm. The elliptic, casing lines of bamboo gracefully congregate to form this astonishing couch. This discretionary all-weather pad enables you to lie down in the lap of nature for hours without any disturbance. Its revolutionary design delivers an imposing outdoor focal point to this chair. The bed is retailed at $3,999 and comes with a five-year warranty. You can also get a Eustachio-cushion by dropping in an extra $299.

Doc

The transformable Doc system is a comfortable sofa with fully removable covering. With a simple movement and no strain, it transforms into a practical bunk bed. This sofa also comes integrated with a safe ladder that will serve as support and protective barrier once it's been turned into a bunk bed. It can be bought from Resource Furniture for $5,950.

Vanessa Daybed

A bed created for ultimate relaxation - Vanessa Daybed. With its adjustable leaf sunshade and two built-in side tables, you could lounge all day. And it's on wheels, so you can move with the sun (or shade, if you choose). Three accent pillows are included. The bed itself is made of powder-coated aluminum and resin "wicker." This is available at Neiman Marcus. Place it in your garden and enjoy the beauty by walking on its wheels and sipping in your favorite cocktail drink. By lounging upon the soft, oval shaped daybed, you can pursue the sun or shadow around the garden. The wheels offer an altogether different experience of riding while relaxing on bed. Also, the leaf parasol ensures shield layer from the burning sun. Install it near pool side and enjoy the party while making yourself comfortable with drinks placed inside the two integrated tables to be in touch with your basic necessities. This luxurious comfort doesn't come cheap and thus demands $3,499.

Attica

The Attica furniture can mix and match the sectional pieces to suit your space, and your mood. It includes an arm chair, corner chair, armless chair, ottoman and a coffee table.

Macintosh Couch

Rumor has it that a computer shop had about 20 old Mac IIs and IIfx computers lying around, gathering dust. To fix this, they decided to put together a sofa out of these. Since each Mac II was originally designed to hold a heavy 20-inch CRT on top, the couch has no problem supporting the rear ends of numerous couch potatoes, although one could picture how hard it must feel to sit on it.

Cultivating Growth Sofa

Cultivating Growth, the northern hemisphere's newest piece of urban street art, is a living sofa dreamed up by the Chicago Botanic Garden. Unlike all that fiberglass furniture also dotting downtown as part of Suite Home Chicago, this creative couch at the Harris Bank Plaza is covered with live plants.

"We wanted to make it fun and easy to take care of, so we used common plants that would take sun or shade and dry and windy conditions," says Cindy Baker, the garden's project manager. "We installed an internal watering system because horticulture in the city is very different than in the suburbs." The garden topiary features creeping jenny as the main "upholstery" on its steel frame, a seat made from flagstones and thyme, arm coverings made of water hyssop, pillows fashioned from hens and chicks and a throw of blue fan flowers. The sofa is 66 inches wide, 30 inches deep and 44 inches high.

Marshmallow Sofa

The playful Marshmallow sofa is a landmark of modern design that's still turning heads and making people smile. The cushions can be all the same color or in multiple colors for the right look in a private office, lobby, lounge, living room, or den.

This whimsical sofa has 18 round, comfortable cushions on its frame. Cushions can be detached for easy cleaning and interchanged to equalize wear or create a new look.

George Nelson's Marshmallow sofa is one of the earliest manifestations of Pop Art in furniture design. Its unique form makes it one of the few truly unconventional sofas in design history. The basic version consists of 18 individual round cushions mounted on transverse braces in the seat and back. A connecting element makes it possible to join individual sofas together, extending the length as desired.

Prices start at £3,198.

Celebrity Sofa

Maybe the life of superstars isn't as fabulous as we imagine. Still this fabulous sofa on the website of Deeply Madly Living was named after them.

The Hollywood Stardom seating represents stardom not only in its name. Its price is also drawing near the stars. You can get this piece of Hollywood glamour for no less than $8,100.

Yin-Yang Sofa

Inspired by the traditional Chinese philosophy of Yin and Yang, German Dedon designed this beautiful piece. This sofa is made of 4,000 meters long fiber, the same length as that of 36 football fields. It accommodates two persons, with two separate pieces and is recommended for outside use. The two sides represent the two elements that create a unity of opposites. The little pillows add beauty to the already fantastic design.

Lawn Sofa

ReadyMade has an excellent guide on making real "lawn furniture," specifically a sofa. This sofa has little details available in the Net, but I'm pretty sure anyone with enough grass in their backyards or front lawn can create their very own Lawn Sofa. Just make sure you're up for a lot of dirt and hard work.

Sofa Box

The SofaBOX is pretty much just that-a sofa that fits in a rugged metal box, appearing to pop out when the box is opened. Swiss designer, John Hofgartner, hasn't revealed much information about the piece at this time or its intended use. But its closed, coffin-like shape seems perfect for vampires or just the extremely committed Goth kid.

Coffin Sofa

Coffin Couches is a California-based company that sells sofas made out of coffins that are discovered to be slightly damaged after a body has been put in them. The couches cost $3,500 and weigh 900 pounds.
