Why You Need a Wagner Power Painter

The Wagner Power Painter is a huge time saver. Beware, your husband may become addicted to it but you'll get lots of rooms painted.

The Wagner Power Painter is one tool that this household cannot do without. Purchasing a Wagner Power Painter is something my husband and I talked about for years. We always knew we wanted a power painter but that was the problem. We put it in our list of “wanted” items and not “needed” items. Boy, were we wrong. The Wagner Power Painter is definitely a needed item. We think every home should have one and you don't have to buy the most expensive model to be satisfied.

Trying to come up with something nice to buy my husband for Christmas, I suddenly remembered our discussions of wanting a power painter. This is it, I decided. Now is the time to buy the power painter and if it turns out that we really don't need it, oh well. It can be put out in the yard sale that we always say we're going to have but somehow never quite get around to, or it can be stored in the storage shed for that nebulous “some day.”

The Wagner Power Painter is a wonderful tool, easy to use and lives up to the manufacturer's promises. Instead of looking at our living room walls now or the eaves of the house as a project and a job to be bemoaned, we now look at these projects as something that can be done now, not something to be dreaded or put off.

We purchased the middle priced model, not the cheapest and not the most expensive. After all if we were going to waste money on it we didn't want it to be a lot, nor did we want to buy a kiddy version of it which wouldn't be a fair way to assess its capabilities.

The major points to using a power painter as opposed to using a paint roller are of course, the reduced amount of time that it takes you to paint a room or a large object such as a boat and the ease with which you can apply the paint once you've mastered the knack of using the power painter. It does indeed require practice and patience in the beginning. But you weren't an expert at driving a car the first time you got behind the wheel either.

My husband started off painting smaller items first. We were remodeling our hall bathroom and he repainted the bathroom door with enamel paint using the Wagner Power Painter. Anyone who has ever tried to paint with enamel knows the difficulty of getting this paint on smoothly, without streak marks. Not a problem with the Wagner Power Painter. The paint went on rapidly and smoothly. It was amazing.

Now he's painting the trim on the house and the driveway.

One of the main drawbacks to the power painter, and which we would like to see changed, is the long cleaning time. It also spits and loses suction when painting overhead using the bottle. The Wagner Power Painter should also come with more spray tips.

But the ease of use, the dramatic reduction in painting time and its versatility (electric - not compressed air) and the fact that it covers evenly and gives a good finish more than offsets the few drawbacks.

Compare the various models and see which one best suits your needs. Remember you really don't have to buy the most expensive model to achieve professional results.

The men will love this tool and the women will love it too because they won't have to listen to excuses from the men folk about how much of a hassle it is to paint anything. You may, in fact, find your husband walking around with the paint backpack on his back, nozzle in hand, and a deranged look on his face, looking for objects to paint.

I would suggest keeping the kids and family pets out of his way! This would also not be a good time to start an argument with him, but a snappy “so you think you're good, huh? Let's see how quickly you can paint our bedroom” challenge will probably have you looking at a freshly painted daffodil yellow bedroom in no time! Rev up that Wagner Power Painter and go for it.
