The average bath takes 30 gallons of water to fill, a shower uses 15 gallons; you can save on water and water-heating bills by taking more showers than baths
Recycle the bath/shower/washing up water for watering your garden - the soap in it will also act as a pest control
Use a barrel, dustbin or other container to collect rain water to use in the garden and for house plants
Install an eco-save flusher for the toilet or place half a brick or a plastic bottle filled with water in the cistern on the side away from the handle - all these will reduce the amount of water you use every time you flush
Don't leave the tap running while you are brushing your teeth - the saving may seem small but it all counts
Avoid all dishwashers - even the "economy" ones use an incredible amount of water as well as energy in the form of water heating and electricity consumption
Use the economy settings on your washing machine and make sure you have the maximum load in
Use a watering can not a hose pipe for watering the garden and use a bucket and not a hose for washing the car, anyway it is much better exercise for you!
