I don't know about you but I have much better things to do with my time than housework. Follow these handy tips and treat yourself to some me time.
- Invest in a feather duster, this allows you to dust quickly, then lightly spray the air with furniture polish giving the illusion that you have worked hard.
- Make people take their shoes off this keeps most of the dust outside.
- Fold washing carefully as it comes out the dryer, with a bit of practice you can get away without having to iron most things.
- If you have pets groom them outside, this keeps both the pet hair and the dust levels down.
- Get rid of the carpet and invest in wooden flooring, no more vacuuming or scrubbing the stains out. It takes five minutes to sweep and five minutes to mop leaving it clean and your house smelling fresh.
- Don't have kids! But if like me you have already gone down this route don't despair, make them eat at the table, this keeps most of the fallout in the one place and makes for a quick clean up.
- Put your foot down! The magic laundry fairy does not do collections, make them put it in the washing basket or don't wash it. This takes a bit of patience but your family will soon get the message.
- Remember chores are good for kids, get them to wash dishes for a small amount of pocket money, they are also good for walking the dog, cutting grass and anything else you can get them to do.
- Their room should be there responsibility and if it upsets you close the door and walk away.
- Have a random moody once a week and point out how much they all take you for granted. This usually motivates them to pick up after themselves but only lasts for a couple of days.
