Here are some tips that can help in the maintenance of the house. These can be done at least once a month.
Clean your walls
We need to clean the walls at least once a month, to get rid of dust and dirt, because it may causes diseases like cough, cold and allergy. To make it easy, just move the furniture to the center of the room to clean the space surrounding the walls. Use a damp rag or cloth soak in a cleaning solution to wipe the wall.
Clean out storage areas
Clean all cabinets. Throw the things that you do not need. Old things when being stocked may collect dust and attract some insects.
Clean and repair window screen
Window screen is very important part of the house because it does not allow even the smallest insect to pass through the window. If possible take these down, lay flat and clean with a safe brush and detergent. Hose with water to rinse.
Clean and inspect the roof and gutters
Check the metal roof for rust, repaint if necessary. If we are living under the tree, sweep out dried leaves and hose down dirt in the gutters in order to prolong the life span of the roof and gutters. Nowadays, construction materials are very expensive. So, check and repair them once in a while.
Check switches, power outlets, and plugs
Call a qualified electrician to check the wiring. Do not do it by yourself because it's too dangerous you might be electrocuted. Many houses turned to ashes because of faulty electrical wiring. Secure loose electric cords. Don't run them under rugs or carpet, it may cause fire. If adding new appliances, ask an electrician to check if the electrical panel could handle the additional load.
Fix plumbing leaks
Check if there are plumbing leaks, it will cause an unexplained increase in your water bill. It is very simple to do. Just turn off all the faucets, if water meter is still running after you close, you have a leak.
Inspect for termites and other pest
These undesirable creatures enter the house to destroy every corner of the room, ceiling and other parts of the house. To determine if there are termites watch out for sawdust, small holes on woods, and mud tunnels outside and inside the house. Treated immediately before it's too late.
Painted surface
When a painted surface start flaking its time to repaint. For a longer lasting finish, remove the old paint completely.
"To make it easy, just move the furniture to the center of the room to clean the space surrounding the walls."
This statement actually made me laugh out loud. Your furniture must be much smaller and lighter than mine. Try shoving a huge oak armoire filled with clothes to the center of the room once a month. Or, try putting all of the bedroom furniture right in the center of a small bedroom and see how well you can get around...
If you want to keep your walls clean, and don't want to injure yourself moving heavy furniture away from the walls...use a sponge mop. You get up on a ladder and reach over the furniture to clean the exposed wall surfaces. Then use an old fashioned broom covered in a towel to get behind the immovable furniture.
