Pool Filters

Finding the proper filter for your pool and taking care of it.

Every pool has to have a filter whether it is a for a regular pool or a salt water pool. There are many different kinds of pool filters. Most pool filters are able to be used for either a regular pool or for a salt water pool. A lot of pool filters are set up in the same way, and therefore, they can look a lot alike, but be different forms of filtering systems. Pool filters basically work the same way even if they have different filtering systems because they all filter the water to keep the swimming pool clean and safe to swim in.

One of the most common forms for pool filters is the sand filter. The sand filter is becoming very popular for salt water pools. A sand filter has changed many times over the years. It has changed so much that we now have a higher standard of sand filter than we did before. A sand filter is now capable of flowing at the rate of 15 to 20 gallons per minute per square foot of filtered area. This has advanced from years before. The sand filter is a quick method for filtering your water in your salt water pools as well as filtering regular pools.

The water begins the filtering process by entering the filter through the upper bulkhead fitting. It then will pass through into a diffuser. This causes the water to pass through evenly in the sand bed. As the water passes down through the sand bed, any of the debris in the water gets trapped between the many grains of sand that is in the sand filter. There is a lateral assembly that is at the bottom of the sand filter which helps to collect the water so that it can then return it back to the pool when it is finally cleaned. There is also an air relief tube that serves to continuously remove any air pockets that are formed at the very top of the sand filter. The air relief valve is actually there to help give the air a way to manually remove any type of air pockets that are inside of the filter.

A lot of debris gets inside of your pool so a sand filter is there to help be able to remove any of the debris that is about 40 microns in size. This amount of debris removal is very good for pools; at least in most cases. A DE filter, however, removes the debris down to roughly 5 to 8 microns in size. It is however not a very practical idea for any pools that are used a lot. A DE filter is used for pools that are not frequently used.

The sand filter is a good filter to have handy when you want to have a personal pool of your own. It has developed a lot and is one of the best filters available. It helps keep your pool nice and clean which then keeps you safe and healthy while you swim the days away.
