My Bandon Beach House

This is about my first house flip in Bandon, OR It is my first attempt at flipping a house. The trick to flipping houses is to buy the cheapest house in the best neighborhood. That is what I did. This is my story.

In January of this year I purchased a house in Bandon, OR. Bandon is a little coastal town one hour from the Northern California border. Bandon has the most beautiful ocean beaches I have ever seen.

Bandon Beach at Sunset

The house I purchased was very neglected. It is located 2 blocks from the beach in a very good neighborhood. I hired my brother to do most of the demolition and remodeling on the house. The kitchen, dining room, front hall and living room needed major renovations. Here I have to interject I am an artist. I considered this house my canvas. The possibilities were endless as far as what kind of floors to install, where to put doors where there used to be windows, taking away a closet so the master bath could have a shower and on and on. The outside of the house was another big project. It needed a new roof, all new siding and the front and back yards were very overgrown. So much so that you couldn't even see much of the house from the street.

The House Before The Remodel

It took six months to get the house totally remodeled. My brother is also an artist. He did the designing of the inside and the outside with some input from me as to where I wanted things. The house did not have a laundry room so we designed one at the end of what was once the dining room. That room is now a nook off the kitchen and the formal dining room is around the corner from the kitchen. The floors are all ceramic tile except for the living room and the three bedrooms that are carpeted. The hall bathroom has a bathtub with tile surround and tile flooring. The master bath has a large shower and the sink has a tile countertop.

The House After the Remodel

All in all this was an experience I wouldn't have wanted to miss. I feel everyone should try flipping a house at least once. It is an awesome feeling when the house is finished and you know you have done the best possible job you could and it turned out exactly as you wanted it to.

Too much advertising! I thought the underlined areas were going to show the areas in the house. I was disappointed.
