How to Make a Small Bathroom Look Bigger

Do you have a small, cramped bathroom that needs more open space? Use the power of illusion to make your small bathroom look bigger. It really works!

Are the bathrooms in your home small and cramped? The good news is you don't have to add square footage to make your bathrooms appear more spacious. Some simple tricks that fool the eye into creating more space may be all you need to make your bathrooms appear more roomy. Here are some ways to make a small bathroom look bigger without tearing apart your home:

Make a bathroom look bigger: Choose light colors.

Selecting light colors for your walls and flooring will trick the eye into adding more space to your bathroom. A light colored paint applied to the walls and floors is an inexpensive way to make a small bathroom look bigger. If you want to use wallpaper in your bathroom instead of paint, choose a small or delicate print or texture in a light shade rather than a fussy or detailed pattern.

Make a bathroom look bigger: Trade in your large vanity.

Vanity cabinets take up a lot of bathroom space and can make your bathroom feel cramped. Consider replacing your existing vanity with a pedestal sink in a light color. You'll need to find an alternate place to store the items you placed in the vanity cabinet, but the space giving effect this simple move will have on your bathroom will make it well worth it.

Make a bathroom look bigger: Use the illusive power of mirrors.

Use a series of mirrors in your bathroom to give the illusion of more open space. This is a trick you can use in any room in your house that's small and cramped. Well placed mirrors can often make a bathroom look twice as large as it actually is.

Make a bathroom look larger: Use the power of vertical stripes.

If you don't want to go with pale or white walls and you need a bit more excitement, consider using a wall paper with vertical stripes to open up your bathroom. The stripes tend to draw the eyes upward, making the ceiling look taller and the bathroom more open. If you use vertical stripes on the walls, keep the floors light in color and minimize the use of accessories in order to avoid a cluttered look.

Make a bathroom look larger: Use the power of light.

Keep your bathroom well lit to give the illusion of a larger, more open space .Let the sun shine in through your bathroom windows and

these are good tips. I think the two most important are lighting and the mirrors. I have a large mirror in my bathroom and it really does make it feel a lot larger.
