Feng Shui and the Living Room

Feng Shui is a system based on keen observation and experimentation, combining elements of nature and nutrition. It is the study of the environment, places, people, time, and how the energies of each interact.

The living room is where the family and guests usually sit together. It should be comfortable and cheerful, and reflect the personalities of the family.

A living room in the frontal half is best for lively interaction and socializing. The door can open into the living room or at least the living room should be visible form the main door.

A living room should be regular in shape square and rectangular are the best. A square shaped room is the best for a living, as it symbolizes the earth and its security. However, some of the furniture and fittings should be round like rugs and tables since a round shape represents money.

The living room, dining room and kitchen should be all is on the same level. If the living room is on a higher level than the rest, energy will follow to visitors rather than the inhabitants.

The room should be well lit and airy with natural sunlight and wind. Lots of light in a room promote good energy. The presence of clutter tends to lock up energy and prevent the flow of chi.
