Feng Shui: Toilets and Bathrooms

Feng Shui is a system based on keen observation and experimentation, combining elements of nature and nutrition. It is the study of the environment, places, people, time, and how the energies of each interact.

Modern architecture brought the toilet within the house. All cultures of the past in the world had placed the toilet well away from habitations. The proximity of the toilet was feared by them.

The convenience indoor toilets have given us has extracted form people several features.

Toilets affect wealth and health alike. Lots of water is used in the bathroom. So the room symbolizes the homeowner's finances.

The toilet should be hidden, if possible in a separate room, and not be placed central to the home because it could "flush away" opportunity. The toilet should not be in the centre of the house.

The toilet should not be at the end of a long hallway with doors in between. Toilets should never be near the main door or seen the when one opens the main door.

A toilet facing the front door is said to flush away all of the good energy that enters the home. The toilet should not be located above the main door for a two storey house.
