My next door neighbors spent months looking for a unique style outdoor table set for their new backyard as they love to spend the weekend together lounging on their patio. You may wonder why it would take months to find something unique when it is easy to find a variety of quality furniture practically at any mall or furniture store anywhere; at first, my neighbors too thought it would be that easy but after visiting several furniture
outlets they decided to look elsewhere, the Internet. I suggested they search for custom furniture makers or custom furniture artisans who practice environmental sustainability procedures.
Furniture artisans are creative craft-men specialized in creating craftsmanship according to the clients individual needs. If you are interested in enhancing and-or adding a unique touch to the beauty and character of your home, the possibilities offered by furniture artisans are endless with a fresh and inspirational work of art that will last a lifetime. Because custom furniture artisans share your passion for beauty, they can offer you a collection of elegant, stylish and comfortable couches, love seats, coffee tables, outdoor dinning tables, lounges, bedroom sets, kitchen furniture, children furniture, you name it, with innumerable choices in the perfect piece of furniture to match the beauty of your home. If you want a backyard where all the kids can hang out, you may need one or two additional hand-made pieces for the childrens playground area.
We have a custom made all around media cabinet with plenty of storage room for components, books and DVDs with 2 pullout drawers in a walnut distressed finish. It is 60 inches tall by 38 inches wide and 24 inches deep. It was a wedding gift and we absolutely love our media room. Hutches are one of my favorite furniture; whenever I
step into a furniture store, the first thing I do is to look for a hutch, I wish I could collect them but for that I will need a huge showroom so for now I will settle for enjoying the one beautiful walnut wood hutch with 6 panes of clear glass I have at home.
I also share a passion for custom designed and hand-crafted reproduction and turn of the century furniture, antique American, and Victorian furniture of the 18th and 19th century. One of my first birthday gifts was a lovely hand crafted picture frame in Ash satin walnut and one important detail I remember is a soft finish in the wood and I still have it. Every now and then I give it a nice cleaning. Depending on the type of finish on the wood is how you can follow the appropriate cleaning procedures, it is not depending on the type of wood. There are a few kind of wood finish such as Danish or Tung oil which is soft or hard such as lacquer, polyurethane or painted and you should polish no more than 3-4 times a year and wipe off polish before it dries completely to prevent built up of a cloudy film. If you have a favorite table that is frequently in use, you may clean it a bit more often and remember not to expose your wood furniture to damp, excessive dryness, cold or heat. Sunlight can change the color and you should wipe up spills immediately to prevent spots otherwise you will need to have your furniture refinished.
Obviously you will opt for buying custom made furniture, first of all, if you can afford to add a personalized statement to your home decoration and second, you and your family truly appreciate the artistic touch offered by furniture artisans. Now going back to my neighbors custom furniture search, they finally found a furniture artisan to work with. They opted for a beautiful table set of classic red cedar with a rich oil-stain treatment and rust-free hardware paired with 10 contoured comfort seats, a patio umbrella and cushions, six cedar lounge chairs, a cedar chase lounge, and a classic swing. To add a dramatic character to their awesome backyard, they built an exquisite wooden deck made of non-endangered Shorea wood and a water fountain. I also spotted a lovely bird house hanging on a huge maple tree on the north-hand side of the patio. Wow! Look at that pool.
