One of the toughest things about being a work from home mom is balancing the time between caring for your family and making money. Many times when you are home, you get distracted by the things that need to be done in the home. You may also have children that are old enough to know that while they have a work from home mom, the do not yet understand that this means mom needs time to work. Or you may just be the type of person that has a hard time focusing, prioritizing or getting motivated.
The simplest way to solve this involves space and time management. To begin with, you need a space all to yourself, where you can block out family tasks and focus on your work. This does not have to be a large space, it just needs to be away from the hustle and bustle of family and a place where you can escape to with no distraction. Next, you need to commit to isolating yourself for a set period or predetermined time. It can be tough for work from home moms to remove themselves from their family responsibilities when they are just in the other room, but it is necessary.
Lastly, you need to arrange your time in a way that works for both you and your family, and then stick with the arrangement. Calendars for you and for the family can help with this. Much like a schedule you would find at an outside the home work establishment, work from home moms can create a schedule to place in the home so everyone can see when she is working. She will also want to create a planner for herself in order to stay organized. Work from home moms need to keep in mind that they are essentially committing to working two full-time jobs, and accept that their lives will be busy and need organized prioritizing.
