It should have a telephone, a room where you could make presentations and hold meetings. Renting a private office space need not necessarily means that you do not operate from home. You could receive mails or phone calls at home and use your rented space for holding meetings.
Many homes simply do not have the space to accommodate the additional equipment and furniture involved in hiring staff. If this is the case and you are in a field where the staff can actually work out of their homes and be in touch with you regularly either on the phone or on the mail- why not considers that option.
