Home Based Business: Worth the Effort?

Is a Home based Business really worth the effort?

You know I just started a new Home Business and in fact this is really what I want to do. Is it for everyone? No. However my brother and brother-in-law have their own business and way too many problems. First of all the business they have (one being a floor and carpet business) has way too much overhead. What I mean by that is the rent that has to be paid, making sure the shipments of carpet arrive on time and is the proper material, the finance has got to be a mad headache with going C.O.D. or a Net-30 or Net-15 system and making sure you actually receive your check from an individual, the employees (are they happy and productive), etc. Obviously their is a ton more problems (as I call it) going into a business.

With a Home-Based business I really only have to worry about myself as opposed to everyone else. Sure I have a family to worry about and making sure my bills are paid, but I am talking about no boss to listen to, no rent (In fact I can write off part of my mortgage as a tax deductible), no stock to worry about (really depending on your business) but my business their is no stock. I have all my time to put into this job and not worrying about anything else.

Is it just that easy? Uh, I think that is a negative. You have to weigh the good with the bad. Now you have to ask yourself what about the income. Without proper income you now have to start worrying. Can I get my bills paid? Will I have some money left over to save or to do leisure activities, etc? In my scenario the answer is yes. My spouse works but the bills are paid and we have enough money left over to put into a savings account and spending money. Really you just have to write every bill that you have (and I mean EVERYTHING) down on a piece of paper. This includes gas for your car, groceries, haircuts, cell phone, internet, cable TV, etc. How much income do you have coming in? I am talking about your NET pay and not your gross pay. You can only work with what you have.

Really the bottom line is if you have all your bills paid and have the income to live, and no worries about a boss or meeting a quota or getting to work on time then you should consider a Home-Based business. Plus the Biggest factor is if you have children (and even pets) then now you have quality time to spend with them. Yes, you have to work still like any job but you can at least pay attention to them. Talk about stress relief. Take it from me, I am a stressful person and usually you bring that sort of thing upon yourself but I am at peace (at least for now) with what I am doing. So, is it worth having your own home-Based Business as the question is asked? What do you think my answer is???
