Goals are Necessary (part 13)

Hurry, hurry, hurry. That's what I am hearing...

Hurry, hurry, hurry. That's what I am hearing. People are emailing me and asking me to get my next excerpt out. I really appreciate the enthusiasm but you have to remember this is only a small portion of what I do on the internet. Between my affiliate marketing, adsense, clickbank, articles, blogging and writing short stories I still have a full time job. But anyways here I go on the next one.

Your Number One

Remember you have to take care of yourself. You're working your butt off trying to succeed at whatever you are doing and sometimes you don't even realize that you are burnt out. You don't want to let it get that far. Between my writing and affiliate marketing I actually put in some twenty hour days without even realizing it. So some nights I just decide that its time to take a break. Either I just sit back, watch some television or I go out for the night. Come Sunday pretty much all I do is check my emails a couple times and that's about it. Think about this. If you are trying to lose weight and you don't give yourself some time to breath then you are probably going to fail because you will quit once you get burnt out.

Lets Be Real

I will use my affiliate marketing for example. I used to see all the ads about making money while you sleep, make a million over night and so on and so on. However what finally made me successful was realizing that this was not going to happen over night and it would be a lot of hard work. I have set my goals realistically and I have set them with room to maneuver. This way I don't get too upset if I don't exactly make what I wanted at the end of the year. I have daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals. I also have a two, five and ten year goal. So far things are going pretty good.

Let People Know

I am forever telling people about my goals for writing and affiliate marketing. Now just about everyday I get phone calls or emails asking me how my endeavors are going. They ask me if I have reached any of my goals. This also helps to work harder to succeed if you know you have people pulling for you. When my friend decided he wanted to lose weight I told him to tell all his friends how much he wanted to lose and how fast he wanted to do it. He didn't have to lose a lot and his goal was small. So with his support system set up he had no problem losing the weight plus a couple extra pounds.

Careful With Change

If you find you need to change something in your plans then be careful. I'm not telling you not to change but rather just put some thought into it first. Remember why you did it that way in the first place. Have a look at the change you are proposing and decide if that's really the right thing to do. Make sure you think about it for a while but at the end of the day you decide that changing is in your best interest then go for it.

Don't Get Stressed .

All stress is going to do is make your life miserable. When things aren't going right don't worry about it. I promise things will turn around. Go ahead and get a massage or some nice relaxing music. Trust me your not going to get anything constructional accomplished if you're stressed out. In fact you will only make things worse. Stress will do some nasty things to you. You won't think clearly, you will be tired, you make decisions you regret and then you become overwhelmed.

Okay you have now read the thirteenth issue of my series on goals. We over halfway done but there are still more to come. I practice each and every one of these. Oh sure sometimes I have to adjust them a bit but let me tell you they have made my writing and affiliate marketing a whole lot more successful.
