Gardening is not just for people who are gifted with a green thumb, people with brown thumb can also do gardening by doing properly these simple guiding principles to cultivate potted ornamentals.

Gardening is a hobby that many people worldwide do enjoy. For them it’s an excellent way to released stress and be at peace. Will you not be grateful if you see, your plants grow healthy?

For your plants to be healthy even if you don’t have green thumb, here are the simple guiding principles to cultivate potted ornamentals.

Potting Medium

Growing ornamental plants must be in a potting medium that rich in organic matter and also it is important that the medium used have holes to easily drain excess water.

Proper Lighting

Some plants are best to grow under partial shade while other species need to grow under the sun. You must be familiar with the plant that you planned to grow and its light requirements to survive. Plants that shade loving would easily get burned if grown under full sun.

Proper Watering

Used clean water when watering your plants to avoid fungi due to dirty water that might affects the roots and could be a cause for the plant to die or rotten.

Proper Fertilization

Fertilizers are used to give nutrients for the plants; it’s like the vitamins of the plant that keep it healthy. Unfortunately improper or too much fertilization could be harmful for the plants and if this happens, submerged the pot in clean water.

Groom your Plant

Who says that plants don’t need to be groom? Plants are also living creatures that need proper caring. You need to remove weeds that grow around the plant. Wipe off the dirt on the leaves and repot the plant to give it more space to grow.

If these things are done properly, having healthy ornamental plants are not impossible even for the people who have a brown thumb and not a green thumb.
