Free Beer At the Bottom of my Garden

It's a great life when you can find beer growing in dishes in the garden, while someone else does the work.

There is a lot to do outside at the moment, so I cut the grass and decided to do something about the slug problem. I took two plastic dishes and sunk them into the ground, filled them with beer and hoped for the best. I had heard that these "slug pubs" were quite effective.

I went on to cut the front hedge and generally tidy up, while my dog watched me from his usual position, flat out on the grass. As I walked past my dog I noticed that he wasn't moving at all, just breathing very deeply.

I bent down to make sure he was okay. He is a very elderly dog. The smell coming from him resembled a brewery. I checked my "slug pubs", and I was right, he had drunk the beer from them both and he was sleeping it off and totally ignoring me.

After all, there's nothing worse than warm beer...
