White flower annuals provide a spot of bright beauty in your garden. They help accent the colors of the other flowers and foliage plants. The following five white flower annual plants will do great in most yards and gardens.
Sweet Alyssum
Sweet alyssum is a low-growing ground cover type plant that is great around larger annual plants, perennials, and other plants. It grows well in full sun. All you need to do is scatter the seeds around in prepared soil. These plants grow only two to three inches tall and have bunches of tiny white flowers.
Annual Crepis
These plants have soft green leaves and stalks with daisy shaped white flowers. Some are considered weeds, but there are decorative varieties that grow easily in most gardens. They flower through the entire summer.
Annual Gypsophilia
Gypsophilia is also known as Baby's Breath. Excellent for a cutting garden, the two-foot-tall plant creates a white cloud of tiny white flowers and delicate leaves. It is wonderful as a backdrop plant amid brighter flowers and shrubs. Plant it in a sunny garden area to enjoy the white flowers throughout the summer.
Annual Nicotiana
Also called flowering tobacco, Nicotiana has both white and pink varieties. The white type is especially striking as the flowers grow in clumps at the top of a one to two foot stalk. The clump of glossy green leaves at the bottom is also decorative.
Annual Mullien
This tall plant has whitish foliage as well as yellow and white flowers atop a tall stalk. It can grow from three to six feet tall and is excellent for the back of a flower garden. In some spots, mullien will come back for a second year of growth.
White flower garden plants will create added light and beauty in your garden. Add sparkle between more colorful flowers and foliage plants. These varieties are popular with gardeners in many areas.
