Where Has My World Gone?

As I sit out my window I wonder what has happened to my world. My kids are missing out on so much it's just plain crazy anymore. Gone our the times where you can sit outside and catch fireflies all night long without fear of being kidnapped. Walking to the store at night is now something you do in a group just to stay safe.

As a child things I took for granted are now gone for my kids. Playing hide-and-seek in a cornfield isn't a game anymore in today's world it could very well be where you die. Their are so many crazy people you just can't be too careful. It doesn't end their either as most of the mom and pop shops have went by the wayside as Wal-mart and others have even took over little towns.

Soda shops are gone and Little League a fixture in most communities are getting replaced by soccer fields. Do I like what I'm seeing in this new world order. I for one can tell you no. Take me back when listening to a radio meant something and sitting on the porch counting the stars was as much fun as anything. I guess I'm old school for the simple things and it's a shame kids can never experience how great old school really was.
