What Happened to my Baby? Did I Lose Him in Middle School?

Why do children want to grow up so fast? Why do they think they are as grown as the adults responsible for their survival?

Why do children want to grow up so fast? Why do they think they are as grown as the adults responsible for their survival? When children reach a certain age, they think they can do and say what they want. Don't they realize their parents are responsible for them until they reach adulthood? If parents didn't provide for their children, whether it is a necessity or materialistic, they wouldn't have it. When children confuse privileges with rights, when the discipline and respect disappears, what matters then? Children should realize there will always be rules and regulations in this world to follow, no matter how much money you make or how old you are.

Children should enjoy being children. When you are a child it's your time to enjoy life; those are the best days and will never be seen again. Newborn babies have everyone in the palm of their hands. Everyone is so in love with the new addition to the family. When the baby cries, everyone is trying to find out why. Is the baby hungry, wet, sleepy or needs to be held?

From a toddler to elementary school, children begin to experience the world. I feel when they enter middle school, their growing up becomes more visible to a parent. It did for me anyway. They aren't babies anymore. Now they have their own personalities, friends, wants, needs and desires. Let's not forget the puberty. This is when they start driving parents crazy. They become more expensive by wanting money, cell phones, expensive clothes and sneakers, and so much more. What's available to children now wasn't available to many of their parents growing up, for one reason or another. Sometimes parents do have a problem with the requests their children have, especially when there is no respect shown in return. I know I do.

Although parents wish they could protect their children from the world forever, they can't. When children become teenagers, it should be the best times of their lives, which they should enjoy to the fullest. These are the years for mistakes, lessons learned, and memories made that will last a lifetime.

I watch those children who think they are as grown as adults are. It's sad to see how they dress, talk and carry themselves. Children do not realize how difficult it is being an adult. They have no idea what this cruel world has in store for them. They should enjoy being a child and learn everything possible to prepare them for adulthood, or they won't survive. Adults should continue to do their best to keep children on the right path, which is more of a challenge in 2008. Just keep praying. Adults are responsible for providing children with religion, knowledge and wisdom necessary for them to become respectable citizens and contributors to society. These children will then be able to provide the same to their children, passing it on from generation to generation.

Children should enjoy being children until they are responsible enough to be in charge of their own survival, which will happen soon enough. Even then, parents will be there with open arms to provide them with all the love and support they possibly can.

May God Bless Children Forever.
