You can educate your children at home as early as one year old. I have four kids and I have done these methods to each of them. I hope I can help you in my own little way too.
- Buy educational reading materials for your child.I started buying colorful Word Books for my babies even when I was still pregnant with each of them I read to my baby even when he/ she is asleep . Oncethe baby wakes up I show him the books that I have for him and show the different pictures inside.
- Play classical music while he is asleep or even awake. This is better than letting the child watch television all day long. A busy Mom cannot monitor the programs on air every classical or even mellow music will help your child grow up to be gentle with words and not violent. He will also not be temperamental unlike other kids who throw their tantrums whenever and wherever. Being calm means absorbing more.
- Write sight words on colorful papers. Words such as doors, light switch, lamp, chairs, tables so on and so forth will make him recognize faster and enable him to read in no time.Make sure that the child has her / his own mini study table and chair in his room where you can stick the papers. Always have writing materials on his desk and make sure he knows that it is the only place he can write on and not on the walls.
- Read to him/ her everyday. Make it a habit. Bring your child to bookstores that allow people to sit and read inside for free. This will show him/her that many children like her loves to read. Remember that a child mimicks everything he sees.
- Make him/ her a little library of her own inside her room or in any part of the house. Provide your child with her very own sitting corner where her books are placed and writing materials are kept. This will surely be beneficial especially if you tell her that it is her personal space where she can cool off when she feels cranky.
