Theme weddings
Theme weddings are all the rage now, from a midsummer nights dream to King Arthur or a simple wild flower wedding. Themes are a great way to start when thinking of what colors you want or what to do for your wedding, a theme will give you a great starting point. Here are a few themes that I have thought up that are great for different seasons.
Midsummer Nights Dream.
For all you Shakespearean lovers out there this is a perfect fantasy wedding for you. From fairies to luscious gardens of beautiful soft flowers this is a great theme for all those fantasy lovers. You would need:
-fresh flowers adorning your bouquet with lots of baby's breath, a beautiful ring crown of white flowers to adorn your head and those of your bridesmaids and flower girl.
-ferries are great as wedding favors and decorations. Even consider having your flower girl wearing fairy wings.
-Bride's dress would be Elizabethan and her brides maids in 16 th century dresses clothing. Have the groom and groom's men in forest blending clothes like forest greens or browns.
-Wedding invitations can have fairy or fairy woodland themes to them with gold glitter along the boarder.
-Decorations, take wooden branches (thin) string small twinkle lights throughout them and hide little ferries among them, you can even spray paint the branches gold for added effect.
-Have white tool adorning the edges of tables or even just the head table with small twinkle lights behind it for an added effect.
Centerpieces
-fill a small planter with moss as it hangs over the edge under the moss be sure to have a Styrofoam green square to hold the flowers. Then take fresh cut flowers and stick them into the moss in varying sizes sprinkle with gold sparkles (fairy dust) and hide little ferries inside them, add some greenery and you've got a nice woodland piece.
-floating candles in a large bowl or even real lily pads then sprinkle gold glitter, or place gold or pearl colored rocks at the bottom.
Favors
-small scrolls with Shakespearean quotes from a midsummer nights dream, attached with a small fairy (optional)
-a fairy figurine.
Flowers
-use beautiful bell shaped flowers and greenery anything indigenous to a forest wild flowers are great if you can get them.
Other
-depending on how many tables instead of numbering them use character names from the play to label the different tables.
Hawaii Theme
Some love destinations but if you just can't get away to Hawaii to have your wedding why not bring Hawaii to you!?
Start with decorations like leis and tropical flowers. The bride could be in a white traditional dress caring a tropical bouquet or she could chose to be in a light summer dress adorned with a tropical bouquet and a crown of white flowers.
-Have traditional Hawaii food, roasted pig, pineapples be creative, and call around for good caterers that are willing to work with this theme and offer advice on what is traditional Hawaiian food and what to serve.
-have it outdoors! Hawaii screams outdoors, choose a beach if possible or a beautiful garden maybe with a pool and place on your invitations for your guests to come in beach ware or comfortable Hawaiian ware.
-You invitations can be brightly colored with flowers,
-You can use traditional Hawaiian vows that can be found on the Internet.
-you can dress formal with the exception of white leis or you can be casual in true beach ware with colorful leis. Have your brides maids in bright colors.
-adorn your wedding tables with lots of bright flowers and pineapples and tropical fruits
-or use a pineapple core it out and use it as a vase for fresh flowers
-compile a bowl of tropical fruits that you can put as a centerpiece and your guests can eat it too.
-wedding favors
-leis colorful or in your color scheme,
-popori sashes tied with a white ribbon adorned with a single white orchid
-a small sachet of fruity tea (loose leaf) with a tea strainer for one (small).
Ice Fantasy (great for Christmas time weddings)
This is a great theme. Here are some suggestions for you.
-brides dress white, dress the bridesmaids in steel blue, or silver.
-have their hair up in a twist with white baby's breath and crystals.
-The grooms and groomsmen can have a boutonniere done with white roses and crystals
-Have the brides bouquet done solely in crystals. A beautiful touch and most florist will know where to refer you if they don't do them.
Decorations
-It's self explanatory ice sculptures are a great idea, as well as small twinkle lights strewn behind tool and draped over the head table and each table around the room.
