The most criticized person in a family is the stay at home mom. The house and errands need to be done and children cared for and fed. Laundry, dishes, sweep, mop, and pay the bills because somewhere in the madness the stay at home mom actually has the time to do everything that is on the agenda. And someone help her if she is feeling sick. Then despite how sick she continues to do what she can so that when that company comes over, although she'll be in bed, they won't think that she is lazy and a pig.
People always blame the stay at home mom when something has been over looked and they have no clue what it is like. People believe that stay home moms have all the time in the world and I would love to set some of that straight. As a stay at home mom, that isn't the way it works. The chore list does not count the spills per day that is cleaned the messes on the couches, the crayons on the walls. How many times have you ever heard a businesswoman say that she can't because she hasn't gotten anything done around the house? Well imagine if you will a businesswoman walking in to take your job. The hair and makeup would be gone a half an hour just trying to scrap that smushed on bubble gum off the floor.
A stay at home mom is CEO, CFO and President of the house. I personally say that the dad is the head of the house. And when asked what that makes me I reply with the neck of the house and the boys are the body. I get looked at and I explain that I only allow the head to turn the way that I want it to and if I really want I can shut the head and body down with one movement.
I have heard that the husband shouldn't have to help if he works all day. I have heard that as a stay at home mom is two full-time jobs that run 24/7. That's right, no offence guys but more often than not you want to days of rest. What about those who stay at home to wash your work socks and make you supper? The woman who you promised the world too and have reduced her to cook, clean and take care of the kids as a stereo -typical sexist can't have a day off at all.
Stay at home moms need a vacation more than any person gives them credit for and it is time that people start seeing that if they sacrifice themselves that much for their family, maybe their families could start doing things for them. Mothers Day alone does not give that much rest for the stay at home mom, nor does it make sense to have one day where moms are celebrated. Moms, stay at home moms, deserve much more recognition than they get.
