School Blues

A concerned parent on the sorry state of public schools.

What is going on with the state of our Public Schools? I am sick and tired of underpaid undereducated staff labeling my child. Children are precious and need to be uplifted during this critical time in there lives. Not brought down. This is the reason for all the drugs, violence, bullying, sex, unwanted pregnancies and high drop out rates. Our children are not being appreciated so they acting out. You can not take 30 kids from different backgrounds, different income levels, different home styles and give them one boring text book to memorize or fail.

There are so many different wonderful ways of learning. How can you just chose one? How can some person sitting in a stuffy office who never met my child dictate what they need to learn. Do you remember anything you learned in High School?

Probably not. They are trying to turn our children into robots, mindless followers. Don't let them! They make new laws which are insane yet we must follow. Or do we? You have choices. You have alternatives. Look into them. Believe nothing the school tells you about our child. Believe in your child. Their needs. Their learning styles. Listen to your children. Are they happy in school? If not find out why and don't stop looking until you find the right answers.

"underpaid undereducated staff labeling my child" - pots and kettles come to mind

"underpaid and undereducated staff"... Well, my mother taught for the public school district, a rather good district, for over 30 years. She saw what the new teachers coming in were like, and she would agree with the writer. As would most if not all of the proffessors I've had in my education working towards a degree in music, to teach music. How many teachers had to take the test over and over again before they got their certificate from the state? And as for underpaid... well, I was the child of a single mother who taught school. I remember what little she got!
Take a moment and ask as many proffessors at any college which student they prefer to see come through their classroom door. The majority will tell you that they prefer the homeschooled student far and above the public educated student, because they know how to study, they have a thirst for knowledge, and they have good work ethics. And good moral character. Then take a look at how the majority that come out of the public education field are acting like. There is a difference! And thank God we have options!
