Being a parent is not an easy task. Though we know that parenting is an obligation, we should also take into account that it is not just a mere responsibility but a bonding opportunity with our kids. We do not have to be hard on our kids. We should see to it that their welfare comes first before ours.
The roles we play as parents are many, so to speak. But we have to bear in mind that these roles are coupled with the reality of not just accepting the tasks but more so enjoying them to the best of our abilities. Parenting is a basic concept we should understand when we already have a family. We should see to it that we give our best foot forward the same way that we do when we are catching up with the demands of our work outside our homes.
I believe that there are essential things we should consider on parenting in order to handle a family. These are:
Money
Yes, this is important. We have to accept the fact that we have to provide for the needs of the family. Note that money really makes the world go round. Basic needs like food, shelter and clothing are supported by financial capacity. It is one of the ingredients of having to cope up with the daily necessities of family life.Time
We have to see to it that no matter how hectic our schedules are at work, we still share ample time to our families. Sometimes we think that if we are a good financial provider, the rest will follow. I do not agree to that mindset. Even if we have money to give our families but we do not spend time with them, everything else will not turn out to be fine. Time is of the essence, hence, a requirement. Whenever, we have free time, we should spend it with our family. If we don't, there will come a time that we will regret not being able to spend free time with our kids.Travel
If we have a lot of free time, we could spend it by traveling to places where the entire family could have a pleasant vacation. This would help develop a good family bond not just for the kids but for the couples as well. This is a runaway from our daily routine. It is a form of exploring the outside world.Pray
Some may find the concept of praying a thing that we should do in our solitude. Believe me, prayer works best when it is done together. Prayer should be taught to kids as early as possible. They may not understand why we have to do it, but at least we could inculcate in them that prayers are essential to life. They may start with the simple realizations that life is founded on prayers and that there is someone up there who would help us in obtaining things for ourselves.Love
Love is the most essential thing in handling a family. With love, there is respect, trust, honesty, harmony and concern. It would make all things possible. No matter where life will bring us, love will be our key to happiness and contentment. It will help us conquer all the obstacles we will encounter along the way.
Parenting then will be simple as long as we live with the above essentials. It will be an easy task for us to handle if we enjoy things the way they have to be enjoyed.
