Being a "Mom" takes courage.
It takes admiration. And plain and simple it takes guts.
This job title is not for the weak. It is a Full-time position with required overtime. It also includes the night shift and possibly at times without warning the red eye shift as well. It's probably the only job where you take your little employer with you on your vacation.
Being a "Mom" also brings super natural abilities such as:
- Hearing the faintest cry at night coming from the other room even though you are sound asleep.
- Doing four different things at once and still able to listen to what your kids are talking about.
- The development of your sight on the back of your head and sometimes even across walls.
- Receiving that eerie feeling when you hear absolutely nothing and you automatically know that is not a good sign.
Somehow, becoming a "Mom" automatically upgrades you to Doctor status. From nursing a crying child with a "there-there" kiss on a "boo-boo" to magically knowing what to do, or who to call, when your child is burning with high fever or crying with infected ears.
However, not all "Mom's" are created equal.
- Some are crafty, cookie baking and casserole on the stove, while others are at the supermarket isle of the already prepared dinner to go.
Some practice yoga as the baby sleeps silently and calmly in their crib, while others say "Finally! Now I can do the dishes, pay the bills, wash the clothes, feed the dog... Oh My God! Where is the Dog?"
- Some drive minivans and carpool for soccer games and cheerleading practices, while others drive sports cars and spoil their kids with front row tickets to rock concerts with their friends.
But no matter what kind of "Mom" we are, we all have one thing in common,
- When that chunky little hand grabs a hold of yours,
- When that sweet innocent face is sleeping on the pillow next to you,
- The way their wide shinny eyes admire you in amazement when you have an answer to everything they ask and they say "Mom, you know everything!"
- That unique moment when even time stands still and they share with you their fantasy world that lives right under their covers.
There is no denying that fire-burning, love overflowing feeling that consumes you up inside when you hear that (or those) breathless beauty of child (children) call you "Mom"...
So, sending you lot's of blessings and good hearted wishes on this Mother's - - -- "...MOM.... Where are my favorite jeans that I must wear today or I am going to die!!" - - - -Day and all the other 360-something days of every single growing year, after year, after year.
