Five Ways to Naturally Burp a Windy Baby

Tried and tested ways to burp your baby without the need for medicine.

Try these tested ways to burp your windy baby.

  1. Sit them up on your lap and gently pat their back and make circular movements, tilting them slightly forward.
  2. Lay them back on a cushion for a minute, when sat back up they should then burp as laying them down creates a path for the gas to escape.
  3. Lay baby across your forearm, so they are facing down and gently sway from side to side. The pressure eases the pain in their belly.
  4. Place baby over your shoulder and gently pat their back creating a natural passage upwards for the wind to escape.
  5. Sit baby over your knee so they are facing outward. Hold their arms out to allow the stomach and chest to be free (suitable for babies 3 months +).
