A Day in the Life of a Stay-at-Home Mom

Motherhood: the ups, the downs, the good the bad and the ugly.

Motherhood let it be said right off the bat it is like being in heaven and hell all at the same time .

I can't say that I have ever been a trend setter or that I was ever going to be on the cover of any fashion magazine . Yet I do recall a time in life where my cloths for a day consisted of more than lounge pants and  a tee shirt . My hair was some what fixed and every now and then I even wore make up . Those days have long passed .

Between the rush of getting my husband off to work making breakfast for my 9 year old and the 21 month old and getting her to hold still long enough to get a diaper changed who has time for all that ? I am lucky to find a hair brush most days before lunch . To me a long shower is one that last ten minutes with out a knock on the bathroom door . Once we do make it through breakfast I now turn into day care supervisor , a CPA , secretary , short order cook, activities planner , and last but not least a referee  that is the hat I wear the most .

Then dinner comes along the ultimate battle ground at my house . I spend forty five minutes telling my son that he likes the food I just spent thirty minutes or so cooking . Just for him to try it and say not bad I do like it . I turn around again to tell the baby for the millionth time not to put things in her mouth or through her plate on the floor .

I know this must sound awful to some and all to familiar to others but now we get to the best part of the day . I call it settle down time no more loud games or fighting .It is where I get to spend real time with my family . I can hold my daughter and curl up with my son talk about the fun we had that day . Sometimes we read a book or make plans for the next day . This is the best moment you can ever have bonding together and getting that warm feeling in your heart that lets you know how lucky you are .

I once read an article about being a house wife and how if she were to get paid for each job she did it would be this huge amount of money  but I get paid in something  far better . I get paid in smiles ,kisses ,hugs and the way my kids faces light up when I come into a room . As far as my husband paying me well that is taken care of too . In the form of breaks from cooking and cleaning dealing with the kids on his days off to give me a chance to sleep in and I must say his kisses and hugs are pretty good pay also .
