Kids Can Make Money This Summer, Too

Some great ideas for your kid's first business.

When I was a Kid my friends and I would have a kool-aid stand every year, and every year we had fun and made some money. One year my friends and I even made it into the local news paper. So I thought even in this dangerous world our kids can have a chance to earn a few bucks too. With a little parental help and maybe a few start up dollars kids can set up a stand this weekend. Here are some idea's for your kids first business.

  1. Kool- aid, juice or lemonade stand. Help kids get ingredients and make a few jugs with ice. Keep extra ice and juice in a cooler. Buy some cups and some Bristol board so the kids can make a sign, I use to sell mine for 25 cents but I'm sure the kids could get away with 50 cents.
  2. Let the kids make rice crispy treats, different shapes and flavours. Try some easy muffin mix or Jell-O Gigglers, have the kids make and sell yummy goodies…
  3. Car wash this is good money and the kids have so much fun
  4. Garage sale, let the kids sell their old toys and books
  5. How about getting the kids a few dollars worth of beads and string they can create jewellery or custom name bracelets for all the neighbours, charge a few cents to a few bucks for their creations

There are many small crafts kids can do whether to sell or just to keep occupied during the summer months. Have the kids make bird feeders, plant flowers, pain rocks….and so much more. Have fun this summer and make a buck or two, I mean the kids can make a buck or two.

Remember to have the kids make a sign for their stand and maybe a few flyers…And….If you are going to let your kids have a stand or some sorts please keep an I on them, help if you have too, send an older sibling or sitter to watch or at least make sure there are a group of kids. In this dangerous world we can never be to cautious.

Hi, I am 11 years old. I love animals, here are some stuff to do during summer (this job is probably suited for 10 and up): walking dogs, or bathing them. You may need some practice, but if you have a dog and YOU bathe him/her, you just might get that job. you could also care for small pets that just stay in cages, maybe clean the cages, or care for them while thier owners are away. Or you can set up an active little playground for all sorts of animals to come by and play. Maybe you could build a small slide and hoops for dogs, or little stairs and toy mice for cats, and you can even have a little section for smaller animals like hamsters and guinea pigs, just add a wheel or a mini water slide!

Hi, i am 13 years old. I hate mowing the lawn. it's not that hard i'm just not good it. so i decided to try something else. Baby sitting! one of my moms friends needed a baby sitter because him and her go play darts. So i said "i'll do it" and he handed me $30 dollars. now every thursday he wants me to baby sit his two kids. Another good way to earn money is sign up for a competition or a league and win!

These are great ideas. My kids are grown with their own children now but they had Koo-aid stands and garage sales. It's amazing what they can come up with on their own too.

I want to earn money but I don\'t know how. I\'m only 11 years old. Its been really hot lately so i was thinking making a place where there\'s cool and cold drinks. Maybe have a little place outside where there\'s chairs and drinks. Maybe fruit drinks.

If you like sport oyu could have a sport day of fun activities. $10 for a hour of fun games to play?

Hi I am 11 years old and I think the best way to earn money is to tutor small kids. Let's say yoo are fantastic in math, then tutor math. You can charge 2.50 an hour or 10-15 dollars per person. Talk to your parents so they can help you get your business started.
