Instinct of a Mother

Being a new mom, there is no how to book.

Being a mother is the most challenging and rewarding job I have ever had. I started a family at a young age and had only instinct to guide me. It was difficult to get the idea that I could be a good mother and my approach was to be more of a friend. I was not very good with punishment. Experience is the best teacher, and natural consequences were my only hope I had for raising a child. There were many times I didn't think I would survive the tantrums and the crying. I didn't know babies cried so much. Then I found out from an experienced mother that there was something called colic. I bought the over the counter colic relief medicine and changed formula.

The remedy that worked best for me was the vacuum cleaner running. I don't know what the sound of a running vacuum had to do with digestive discomfort but I do know that I did get less crying. It was amazing to me at the end of the day that it was all going to be ok. It is the greatest feeling to have a child and watch them grow and see that you have done a good job or at least did the best you could do. We grew together as the years went by I knew more and felt confident The first time a new parent asked me for advice I felt that I was making progress in the right direction.

My first child has now graduated high school. That has been a great reward for me because I did not. I must have done something right. She is proud that she graduated and is now going to college. She is a loving compassionate woman and I am very proud to be her mother. She is going for a nursing degree and is interested in pediatric nursing. I know she will be great at any thing she sets out to do. Perhaps the vacuum cleaner colic remedy worked in more way than one.

I am a mother of four myself. I never had a baby with colic but I do know what you're talking about. Your children are your greatest work and when they succeed you feel that you succeeded too. Very touching article, I liked it.
