Mummy, where did I come from?
Of course, the answer is slightly embarrassing and private to tell them because they are of such a young age because it might influence them. Adults have been known to respond to this question by saying things like “Son, the storks from heaven dropped you down the chimney” or something similar. Another response was that babies were grown out of a cabbage patch! Now, if you really want to tell your children something reasonable, don't tell them lies, just tell them how it happens. I don't mean by telling them HOW it happened, but like the birth and pregnancy process, that way, they will know something and one day, they will too experience their very own child.
What is Santa?
OK, this I learnt from a very young age that this pot belly man did not exist. Santa has been around for a very long time celebrating the traditional holiday of Christmas. Santa is known to give out presents, ride a sleigh, and give coal to bad children and so on. But why did adults spread these lies? The answer is: To control their children's behaviour. Children will then believe that they will receive coal if they are bad so they will act nice. But why use such a cruel way to control children and lie to them at the same time? Adults should just tell children that he does not exist and the parent themselves should just reward their children themselves at the special Christmas time.
What does the Easter Bunny do?
This furry monster is supposed to give out chocolate eggs during the festive time of Easter. The Easter bunny is treated like the summer version of Santa. The Easter Bunny will only give you chocolate eggs if you are nice. If you wish to tell children about this furry monster, I suggest that you tell them the truth that it doesn't exist.
Mum, why do you always tell me to stop cracking my knuckles?
This has been said to me over and over again, I am not a person that will normally listen to anyone about anything. Especially if it looks like they want to control how I act. I started cracking knuckles all around my body since a very young age when I found out that I could crack my wrist without hurting it. Adults have told children that cracking your knuckled will lead to arthritis, this has been proved wrong. Studies show that 300 knuckle crackers had absolutely no symptoms that lead to arthritis. It is simply the nitrogen gas that builds up in your fingers that makes the addicting or gruesome "crack" noise.
So why should you tell children lies? It is better to know the truth then to know what is not real. If you were in the situation as a child and you desperately needed to know something, would you rather know the truth or some made up lie? That's for you to decide.
