Read a Book Without Pictures
Let your child's mind envision the scenery, the characters and the adventures as you read to your child. Take them exploring all over the world and to worlds never discovered through books. Let them be a cowboy, a princess, a pirate or maybe even the villain as you travel on.
Don't Limit Them to What “Should Be”
Let your child color or paint the sky red or green and draw flowers under the sea. Listen to their fantastic stories with creatures unknown. Don't limit them to the adult world of what should and shouldn't be.
Take Away the Toys
Okay, so maybe this would cause more tears than joy, but teach your child to play without them as well. Go on an African safari in your own backyard. Don't forget the binoculars. Run from the dinosaurs chasing you down the street!
Write a Story
Give your child a couple of stapled pages and allow them to write a book. Can't write yet, write for them or have them tell their story through pictures.
Make Music
Maybe you are blessed to have instruments in your home, let your child compose a symphony. No instruments, you've got pots and pans, boxes and rubber bands! Set up a pot drum set with spoons as drumsticks. Make a guitar out of a shoebox and rubber bands and rock away. Give your little pop star a hairbrush microphone and let her wail!
Let Your Child See You Silly
Act like a kid again. Loose those adult inhibitions and have fun. Enjoy those adventures, colors, stories and music. You'll miss these days all to soon.
