Nappy rash, cradle cap, and teething are all common to most babies. These five tips are easy to follow and are all natural.
Cradle Cap
The dry patches on baby's scalp can be easily removed if you massage a small amount of olive oil into baby's scalp in the morning. Wash baby's hair as normal at bath time that evening. Repeat every few days. I used to do this when we weren't going out that day so that it didn't look like baby had greasy hair!
Long Fingernails
One of the best times to cut baby's nails is when they are on the changing station after being dressed. Taking a small pair of baby scissors and holding each finger in turn, press back the pad of the baby's fingers gently, one at a time, so that the skin parts from the top of the nail bed. This makes it much easier to trim the excess nail without touching the skin.
Milk Spots
These spots on the baby's face can occur on and off during the first few months. Use a clean "soft cloth" each day in the morning when topping baby. Make sure the bowl is cleaned daily with an anti bacterial solution and rinsed clean. Never use the same cloth on baby's face as their bottom. I found the best soft cloths were the disposable ones, using one per day, which inhibits germs that can be found on washable face flannels etc.
Nappy Rash
Minor nappy rash can be treated by keeping baby's bottom dry, using a suitable nappy rash cream and try to go nappy free for a little while each day to encourage the air to heal the rash
Early Teething
When baby wants to bite they seem to grab at your hand or finger more so than any other time and you notice a lot more dribbling too. This tends to be in the early evening. Encourage the biting by allowing baby to bite down on your "clean" finger both up and down into the gums. This seems to satisfy after a few minutes.
