Firing Up Your Kid's Passion for Learning

It is really satisfying to see an eager child with an unquenched thirst for knowledge.

Especially for me, nothing is more exciting than seeing my child with a keen interest in learning more about the world. Most small children go through a period of curiosity and questioning, and you need to show your child that this is a very healthy way to live. When your child questions everything and takes nothing for face value, he or she is honing his analytical thinking skills.

There are many ways that you can foster this kind of attitude in a child which are very easy to do.

Here are tips on how you can do so.

  1. Read and talk to your child as often as possible. Even before birth experts recommend reading and talking to the unborn child. What more after he arrives into this world where he is able to hear and absorb information for himself. Incorporate books from birth. You can read picture books and describe what is going on. In the story. Both my boys uttered their 1st audible words at 6months- Dada.
  2. Singing of nursery rhymes can really help to stimulate their learning ability. Even though as a baby they may not respond immediately to what you are reading or saying rest assure that they are absorbing whatever you are trying to teach them. The day will come when you least expect it. Your child humming along to the tune. I personally experience this when my elder boy was 4 months old. He was trying to hum along to the tune of Baa Baa black sheep.

If you are consistent and do this regularly I am sure your child would become an eager learner.
