How to have some family fun on a rainy day.
- A rainy day doesn't need to be a gloomy day. Use a rainy day as an opportunity to engage in some family activities that you might not have enjoyed in a long time.
- A rainy day provides a perfect opportunity to play some board games together.
- Gather the children around the television and watch a movie together. Be sure to include popcorn.
- Toss pillows on the floor and gather the family (and pets) around for reading time. You can also use this time to allow children to create their own stories. Or one person in the circle can start a story and each person can add a line to continue the story.
- Use the day as an opportunity to help children clean out their rooms and prepare a donation box to give unused toys to a charity.
- If it's a warm rainy day with no thunderstorms take a walk in the rain together.
- Have an indoor picnic even if you have to be creative with the menu.
- Cook together. Let the children do as much as possible independently while preparing a special recipe.
- Engage in an art project together.
Be grateful for the opportunity for family togetherness that a rainy day provides.
