Early one morning, my almost two year old son came
running into my bedroom. He was so excited, and filled
with joy. He said hurry, hurry, come look at my garden.
Getting up still feeling the sleep in my eyes, I followed
him into the kitchen. In front of the refrigerator
was this mountain of flour, cracked eggs, and spaghetti
noodles sticking up out of the flour. He was so proud of
his creation. I couldn't believe the mess.
On another occasion I woke up to a really strong
smell of shaving cream. I went around hunting down the
smell and I found it in the bathroom. My son was covered,
standing there with this big grin on his face. He said
I am decorating the bathroom. Now I look back and laugh
at the things he did, but that was just all of his
creativity coming out.
Today he still is doing things that bring a smile to my face,
and a good laugh sometimes. All the creative ways a
child can show you how to look at something different amazes
me to this day.
