Even if your kids say they have no interest in science, if you dress it up in slightly different clothes you can sell anything! This site offers a huge amount of stuff for kids to do and not only online. The greatest thing about this website is that it actively encourages kids to log off, to pursue the many experiments it gives them access to and which can be conducted mostly with things found lying around the house.

If you are the parent of a member of the species known as “girl” then you know that for every ten sites devoted to boy stuff there is one that might interest the young ladies. With this one you can keep your little princess happy for hours. The great thing is that there is lots of stuff here dedicated to the sub-species known as “tomboy” so they do not have to spend hours doing gender stereotyped things such as fashion and make-up.

Wendell is a worm and his job is to walk your kids through the world of yuck that surrounds us but about which we know so little. Your little angels can find out all they ever wanted to know (but weren't too afraid to ask!) about cockroaches and worms. They can also find out lots of stuff about the icky side of the human body, such as ear wax, snot and zits. You may shrink at this sort of stuff, but this is guaranteed to keep the kids hopping up and down in delight at the discovery of yet another gruesome fact we would rather, as adults, forget about.

If you are looking for a single portal to bookmark and then the kids up and at it, then this may well be the site you have been waiting for. The site is split up in to educational or fun respectively, although there is much mixing and matching between the two, as you may well imagine. As each and every site has been approved by the staff at kidsites, then you can rest assured that they have been thoroughly filtered and approved.

At first sight, anyone with extensive Web 2 experience may baulk as the interface is based mostly on animated gifs and may not be the swish flash experience that you might expect or even demand. However, you will be very pleasantly surprised by this site which is effectively split up in to things to do with the under and over sixes. The instructions are so clear that even a very very daft parent can follow them without feeling that the kids have made a fool of them!

Are your kids keen to help save planet earth and do their bit? Well, on this site they can have some fun and help feed the word. The site is run by the UN World Food Programme and for each word they can successfully define then the programme will done 20 grains of rice to combat hunger. Twenty grains of rice may not fill a belly but you would be - and your child will be - pleasantly surprised when they see their totals adding up. Then they can go eat twenty popsicles with a guilt free conscience. Ta da!

This site has a huge, three thousand plus pages so even the pickiest of little ones will find something with which to keep themselves amused - and sometimes subliminally educated. There is also a huge amount of advice for parents. The latest cool section is all about the Beijing Olympics where the kids can find out all about the history of the games and of China. Then they can bug you to help them make some Olympic ring cookies! Great stuff!

If you are an adult then the sheer size of this site will bewilder you. Your kids, however, will think they have died and gone to heaven. If your kids want to make a volcano, that's exactly what they can do! If they are puzzled by certain animals, like chameleons and the Duckbilled Platypus then they can find out all they want to know here. Plus there are games and recipes and… everything they ever wanted to waste time learning about!

OK, enough of the education already! This site is pure fun (though it does have a few spelling tests!). Let the site do the talking - it says it all! The front page says “This website contains scenes and material which may be considered too silly for grown-ups, small animals, and many varieties of houseplants. If you are a grown-up, a small animal, or a houseplant, we strongly urge you to seek the permission of a kid before browsing this site!” Say no more! The kids may not learn anything but they will have a lot of fun not learning and you can sit back and relax safe in the knowledge that you are not attempting to hot house the little dears twenty four hours a day.

This is a British website but I can guarantee that your young ones will not grown up with a plum in their mouth or have to find work as a Brit-villain in a Hollywood flick. This site is run by the BBC and its content is indicative of the quality you would expect from such an august institution! There are stories and rhymes to share with your kids and everything else from coloring to making cool stuff. If you want a slightly more Europhile interface then this is the one for you!
