More and more I see people complaining about the content in movies, video games, and the internet. Now I'm all for making sure that people knows what they are buying and making sure that it has the appropriate rating. But there comes a point when it's no long the job of the companies and it's the job of the citizens of the world.
Parents are talking about taking this that and the other thing of the net or out of the stores. The problem I have with that is that it's not as much the fault of the company as it is the parents not being parents. They put the labels on the cover and in most places you have to be eighteen to buy certain things, such as games or movies with R ratings. Now I know just like everybody else that kids are going to try and find ways around this. But when you let your kid go to a friend's house that you know is allowed to play those kinds of games you need not blame the kid but yourself. The industry is doing fairly willing what it can to make sure that adult content stays out of reach of kids but sooner or later it becomes your problem, after all they are your kids. Here are some tips to help parents because I'm not saying that all parents are wrong.
Make sure that when your kid goes to a friend's house that they don't play or watch the kind of things you don't want them viewing. If your child is into video games go to the local store and see if you notice any active that makes you think they don't check ID's and don't let your kid go there without you and on top of that one make sure to report it to the manager and let other parents know. Check the rating on the box before you buy it, most games have a description of what age it's appropriate for and what some of the game has in it. In the end you are the best defense between what your kid watches or plays.
