Adults have a duty to their children

What lengths should we go to keep our children safe, do we keep them indoors untill they are 17 or shove them out to play to learn about the "real world"

I sat last night watching the six o’clock news and once again was grateful to be sat in my warm house with my two children tucked up in bed as they should be.

This world can be a horrible place with acts of war, terror and evil all around us, how can anyone say that a young child has any concept of any of these evils, and, more importantly, who can say they want their children to know all about it at such young ages. There is plenty of time for these children to grow up and find out by themselves what horrors there are all around us while at the same time finding out what magic the world can also hold. This is what growing up is all about, our job, as adults, is to give them a stable, loving background with good morel standards so that they are capable of handling whatever life throws at them.

I know this is an idealistic way of thinking about things, and believe me, I know it is not as easy as it sounds, but our children deserve the best start we can give them and if that means a little over protection now and then, then I think that’s a fair compromise.

Guiding children through their childhood is a privilege that we should cherish and treat with extreme caution and yes we are all going to get things wrong sometimes but if a child can grow up knowing that we did the best we could then that can only stand them in good steed for the future.

You are a very conscientious person. You are also right on when you say that adults have a duty of care towards their children. I would actually go one step further, children have certain rights and those rights need to be respected.

Keep advocating fot the rights of children.
