If your child goes to a public outing, make sure they are chaperoned.
Keep a close eye on your child's online activities.
Teach your children not to talk to strangers.
Most people would agree that these points are common sense.
Yet on the news I see stories about child abductions and abuse.
This to me is sad. A couple of years back my family was affected by child abuse.
The majority of child abuse is perpetrated by someone the child knows and trusts.
Do not think that because your child's peers are their age that
some peers do not abuse each other.
Now I am not saying all peers are bullies and trouble,
just that peer abuse happens too, so be watchful of that.
The reason I bring up the above point about peer abuse is that often times in high school I myself experienced physical and emotional abuse at the hands of my peers.
To conclude, Parents be watchful of your children.
If they come to you with an issue, do not ignore or take lightly what they say.
