A Movie Date

Children are our most important resource. They are blessings that should be taken cared of, nurtured to become socially responsible, and caring of their fellowmen.

Family time should be quality time. At these times when career and family life are two important matters, not only time management is necessary.

Parents are usually torn between family and career. They could not give up career because it's where they get their living.

Who suffers? Undeniably, the children.

Most of the time, working parents buys things that they think would make their children happy. Toys… toys… and more toys. Expensive. And telling their children to take good care of it. Don't let his playmates borrow it. Teaching the children to be selfish. That things should be taken care of but not relationships.

I always take my nephew to a movie date. The first time I brought him to watch a movie was his first. His parents did not try to bring him because they thought that their money would be wasted because he might ask to go home early.

Fortunately, he enjoyed the movie. And he always asks me when will we watch again. Watching movie and bringing the children to parks. Enjoying their company. Talking to them are just some of the things that parents forget or have no time.

On a Sunday, going out with the family is also a good way to show them how you value. Attend the mass in the morning and going out. Having a picnic. These are quality times.

Giving children gadgets like PSPs hinders their social growth. The ability to have relationship with other children.

Parents should value their children. What you sow to your children when they were young you will harvest. Good values you instill is like a match. From spark it will start and light the whole room.

Let not your child be jailed in the four corners of your home. Introduce him to the realities of the world. Let him feel that he is lucky to have a family like yours. That he can enjoy life with you, his parents.

Show and let them feel the love… not of material things… but love that cares.
