10 Flattering Gifts for Mom on Mother's Day

Wondering what to get your mom on Mother's Day? Here's a list of 10 gifts and favors you can do that'll be sure to thank her for all she's done for you.

It's early May, and Mother's Day on the 11th is only a few days away. Are you wondering what to get your mother, the one who raised and nurtured you through all those years? Here are some gifts that can help return that love given to you as a child.

  1. Your Presence:

In many situations, if you've been away from home for a long time, or if you don't see your mother very often, the simple gift of your presence can mean the world. Visit your mom; tell her how much you love her with sincerity.
  2. Cook a Dinner:

Think of all those delicious dishes your mom cooks(ed) for you. Why don't you return that favor, and cook for her? If you can't cook, give it a shot. The effort itself will be the greatest gift. Try comfort food, or even try to imitate some of her best dishes. You can even bake cookies together 
  3. Make a Card:

Again, the mere act of putting effort into something for your mother is a great sign of love. She'll be flattered that you made something so simple, yet so direct to the heart. Making the card is definitely the way to go, as opposed to buying a card.
  4. Jewelry:

A classic gift for Mother's Day is jewelry. Buying jewelry may be out of the question for kids or teens, but making jewelry for her would be even better. Often, buying jewelry for your mother as an adult shows you have the stability and wealth to buy expensive jewelry, and that can reassure your mother you're doing great.
  5. Flowers:

As women get older, they tend to notice the small acts of love. Get her flowers! Remember those flowers she adored in her garden when you were young? Buy a bouquet of them! She'll be full of memories.
  6. Chocolate:

Another classic gift. Chocolate, whether it be white, semi-sweet, dark, or truffle, can always be flattering. Again, present the chocolate yourself; don't mail it. Mailing chocolate will not have the same affection and “wow-factor” as giving it to your mother in person.
  7. A Coupon Book:

This is a great gift for kids or teens to give their mother. Make something called a “coupon book”. You can put coupons like “Clean my room” or “Wash the Dishes” in them, so your mom can use those coupons whenever she wants you to do your chores. Making these coupon books with nifty illustrations will also add a nice cuteness to the gift.
  8. Help Around the House:

If you know your mom is busy doing a house project, help her! Maybe she's selling the house, or maybe she just wants to paint a room. If your mother is from an older generation, teach her how to use the Internet for her benefit! She'll be opened up to a world of possibilities.
  9. Compile a Scrapbook:

If you have the time, make a scrapbook full of pictures from your childhood to present time. As an adult, you can fill it with pictures of your job, family, and kids or pets if you have any. Give your mother something she'll be able to look at whenever she worries about how you're doing.
  10. Keep in Touch:

Keeping your mother filled in daily, weekly, or monthly on how you're doing is possibly the greatest gift. Even as your mother is living her life, her children will always be her greatest gift. When you need help, ask her for help; she'll be flattered. Remember that Mother's Day is not about just giving gifts; it's about a child and a mother displaying their affection for one another.
