My best experience with childbirth was with my midwife.
My midwife, Jackie Griggs, became my friend before I had my son. I wasn't' trusting a stranger with the birth of my son, but a friend.
If I had a concern, no matter how silly or stupid it was, Jackie listened to me and answered all my questions… with patience and kindness.
She didn't push me to have my child with her. She wanted me to be comfortable with my decision to have my child with her. I was more important to her than the money.
Jackie took the time to explain to me how things were going to happen. What to expect and what to be prepared for.
Each month when I met her, it wasn't a 5 minute check up, but a chance to have all of my concerns addressed as well as to get to know Jackie.
NO episiodimes. NO epidurals. NO drugs. NO c-sections. ONLY THE WAY GOD INTENDED CHILDBIRTH TO BE…
What I wanted to happen, was what would happen. If I didn't want anyone but her there, then no one but her would be there. I wanted to have my son in the water, and a waterbirth was what I got.
As long as it took to have my child, was as long as it took. She didn't go home when she got tired. She didn't try to hurry me because she was going off duty. For at least 10 hours she was with us. With patience.
My son wasn't taken away from me at all. He was by my side, all the time. She checked him to make sure he was all right, and she weighed him, but he was ALWAYS in my sight and reach.
I got to go home not long after my son was born. About 8 hours after he was born ( because he was born at about midnight ) I was in my own bed and comfortable at home.
