Five Most Bodacious Birthday Party Planning Ideas

The 21st Century birthday party has become a celebration of monumental proportions that includes live entertainment, 5-star chefs and fancy locations. No more pin the tail on the donkey, playing musical chairs and just inviting a few party guests to attend the party. The best news is that you don’t have to be rich to throw a bodacious birthday party.

1. GEO-CACHE ADVENTURE PARTY

Geo-caching is a modern-day treasure hunt that combines real treasure hunting with GPS technology on a global scale. Thousands of private individuals and businesses cleverly hides treasure containers all over the world and catalog the location using GPS technology. Once the treasure has been hidden and marked using a GPS way point, then the individuals and/or businesses may announce to the public using Geocaching.com that a new treasure has been hidden and is ready to be found.

Using a GPS device and Geocaching.com your next birthday party guests could be searching for hidden treasure in a city or town near where you live. The geocaching website provides all of the information that one would need to get started the right way. Treasure varies from stickers to gift certificates and sometimes-plain old cash.

2. TREASURE HUNT PARTY

Metal detectors are a lot of fun to use when searching for hidden treasure that may have been lost for a really long time. Another metal detecting idea includes the hiding of numbered dog tags around the yard or in a park, then provide clues or maps to help the treasure hunters discover the hidden treasure. The numbers that are included on the dog tag is used to correspond with a specific treasure that will be rewarded to the one who finds it.

Metal detectors can sometimes be rented at a variety of hobby stores, metal detector dealers and from varying Internet companies. Hobby Town is one of the hobby stores that metal detectors can be rented by the day, week or month, but there are other places that rent metal detectors, too. Once the metal detectors have been secured, then the treasure needs to be decided on and buried about 4 inches in the ground at whatever location that is chosen for the treasure hunt to take place.

3. VIDEO GAME TOURNAMENT PARTY

Kids of all ages are addicted to playing video games no matter if they are playing by themselves, with friends or against players from all around the world via an Internet connection. Connect with your kids by throwing a video game tournament party using their favorite video game console and video games. Rent additional video game consoles from the local video movie store and a few extra copies of the video game that will be used for the tournament. Award prizes to the winner(s).

4. KARAOKE BATTLE OF THE BIRTHDAY BANDS PARTY

It is natural that some people enjoy entertaining other people by sharing they're hidden singing and dancing talents. This is evident as television game and reality shows now include singing and dancing competitions that attract millions of viewers each and every week. Karaoke has been a popular staple in social environments for at least a couple of decades in bars, restaurants and other social gathering locations all over the world.

Purchase or rent a karaoke machine and host your own version of the Battle of the Birthday Bands competition where the birthday guests can compete for prizes and bragging rights for winning the competition.

5. HOST A MURDER MYSTERY BIRTHDAY PARTY

Host a murder mystery party where the guests become detectives, suspects and/or the next victim(s). The game begins at the time the invitations are mailed to the party guests, because the invitations will include vital information about the character that the guest will be playing at the time of the party. Some of the guests will play suspects or victims and these are the guests that will be sent the special invitations including the background profile of the character that the guest will be playing and the ground rules regarding how much information can be shared with the other guests at the party.

The guests who did not receive an invitation to play either a suspect or victim will be the detectives who's sole purpose is to try and figure out who murdered whom and how it was done. The guests will be working together, asking questions and discovering new evidence and information about both the other guests and the murder or murders. Piecing the clues together, so to catch the murderer will require a team effort.

Host a Murder games can be purchased at specialty game stores that carry board games, card games and role-playing games. The Host A Murder game kits do come complete with planning instructions, party invitations, prop suggestions, and game rules. There is a wide selection of Host A Murder games to choose from at the game store or on the Internet.

Host a murder party where the guests are instructed to dress-up like the characters that they are playing. Serve pizza, hot dogs, cake and ice cream or whatever kind of food that is selected to the guests. As the primary party host make sure that the party guests are getting involved and that all of the clues have been discovered in a time efficient matter, so that the guests will not lose interest and the case can be solved during the party time frame.

We tried the geocaching party idea out for my son's birthday party and the kids had a ball. My son and his bestfriend found a $50.00 Wal-Mart Gift Certificate on our first hunt. Now our other son wants to have the same kind of party on his birthday.
