It is often stated that everything bad will happen to the generation that follows, and that we will already be dead before that bad thing happens. This is the thinking of people. If there is a problem too hard to solve, they don't bother and let it pass onto their children, when the problem is more grave over time. This article is not an environmentalists' persuasion article. This is an overview of the world in the year 2008 and what could happen in the one or two decades to come.
Oil is the main basis of the modern world. Everything runs on oil, from your computers to your food. The concept here that is often misunderstood is that just because an object doesn't have the need to use oil to function doesn't mean that it is oil conserving. To use as an example, it takes 10 calories of burning oil to create 1 calorie of food. This is not literally burning oil to create food but because of the many processes it takes for food to get from one place to another and to be packaged. Therefore, if oil is sparse, the world is sparse on almost all supplies in the world.
Why is the Unites States having a war in the middle east? This is because Iraq is a country with the third most oil in the world, and do you know why Iraq? Iraq was literally at the wrong spot at the wrong time. If it was an actual war, a war of hate, it would have been already over. But, it is a war in hopes for the capturing a valuable natural source. Oil.
To keep this short and simple, I will explain what will happen in the future. It may not me accurate as a whole, but, it is a very concise prediction with evidence.
To begin, I will explain the present and move onto the future. The present. Well... now is the time we live. When we can change the future. At the present, we are lacking oil and we are fighting wars and the price of oil goes up every second we breathe. We use mainly cars as a method of transportation and there isn't much oil depots that have much oil left. There is too much stuff about global warming and everything is made of oil and without oil, we won't be able to do anything.
Now, the future is a lot different. There won't be any oil left, and there will be only miniscule amounts only for the superrich like Bill Gates of today. There will be no light on cities, even cultural-center cities like New York or London. There will be no cars, no nothing. No TV, no computers, no iron, limited food, and no furnace. People will go around in the streets with heavy coats as only protection, and there will be small shelters for food like soup, since no one can cook at their own homes. There will be terror everywhere. No cars or helicopters to transport injured people. No elevators. It will in fact, be a dark age. An age of no modernization where everyone struggles to survive.
Yea, Yea I know this will happen sometime, but, it will most likely happen before I die so whatever... This is the common saying of many people. The bad news: this is a prediction of the world in a decade or two. As I said before, oil is the thing that drives everything in this world. Be aware of every light switch you turn on as it takes oil to make that electricity.
