Halloween Safety

Safety tips for the little ones that will be trick-er-treating.

Halloween is just around the corner. It won't be long and we will be seeing a lot of happy little ghost and goblins. Kids love to dress up and trick-o-treat, with that comes accidents so please be careful when you are sending your little ones out for a night of fun.

Never let the little ones trick-er-treat without adult supervision!

Make sure your little ones are not stepping on their costume, be sure the garment is above the ankles so that they aren't able to step on them, trip, fall and get hurt.

Remind them to walk don't run! The candy will be there so they don't have to run, push and shove.

Be sure they have a flashlight with them and know how to use it, remind the little ones to keep the flashlight on. Remind them to not shine the light in anyone's eyes especially at the cars that might be passing them by explain to them that it could blind the driver and cause an auto accident.

If the children are riding in a car and getting in and out of the car often, have the children get out of the side of the car that is facing the walk or the edge. Never allow the children to get out of the car from the doors nearest the road and flowing traffic. Children are excited on this night and often forget to look when exiting an automobile, they tend to swing the door open, jump out and run. You do not want them running into traffic so always remind them before you stop the car (to all get out on the side near the edge or sidewalk)

The children should not eat any of the candy until the parents have checked it thoroughly.

It is sad to say but there are people out there that do things just to hurt children so all candy should be checked before eating.

Remember to follow the rules that your town has set up and only trick-er-treat on the designated days and times.

Be safe and have fun, remember to say trick-er-treat
