Five Things That May Save Your Life

Five everyday objects that maybe useful in a life-threatening situation.

  1. Mirror

Even though a mirror is tied down with the stereotype of being “girly,” it can truly save your life. If you were abandoned in the middle of the ocean, or are stranded on a mountain, you can use a mirror to catch the attention of planes or helicopters in the sky. Mirrors may have saved your lives already. Mirrors on cars or bikes help prevent fatal accidents from happening everyday. Face it; they are a crucial part of our lives. Whether it's saving us from a major embarrassment, or, saving us from an accident, we would be lost without mirrors.
  2. Extra clothe

Extra cloth acts like a bandage in case of an injury. Even if you have to tear up your clothing, extra cloth will help blood clot faster by applying pressure on the wound so you won't bleed to death. Surprisingly, this is very easy to accomplish. All you must do is to bring extra clothing, or bring some bandages to make an instant first aid kit.
  3. Glasses

Having glasses gives you a major advantage in survival. Not only does it clear up your vision and allow you to hunt or gather food better, it can be used to make fire. Using fire you may alert rescue crews or helicopters, cook prey you may have hunted, boil water to rid it of parasites, scare away-unwanted animals, and use it to keep you warm in the cold. If you haven't already attempted, making fire by rubbing two sticks together is harder than it seems. Even making a bonfire with a lighter is hard. The possession of glasses makes this process so much easier, and could potentially save your life.
  4. Tampons

Although this thought may seem funny, if you are stranded in a leaking canoe, a tampon does great to stop those leaks, so you can bail yourself out of the problem faster. By bringing a tampon, you may have saved yourself from drowning, or bought yourself enough time to be rescued by a rescue squad.
  5. Pocketknife

With the flick of a blade, you have found yourself a weapon. You can use this to mark your path on trees, cut down leaves to clear your path, use it to hunt, and/or have something for defense. A knife comes in handy when trying to start a fire. If you haven't noticed, trying to light a block of wood on fire isn't the easiest thing to do. Using a knife, you can scrape wood fibers off trees because the fibers can substitute for paper, making creating fire, that much easier.
