Are You Prepared?

Many of our population are not prepared in the event of a natural or man-made disaster. Are you?

How many of us remember the 7.9 earthquake that shook the Pacific Northwest a while back? I remember! Every so often I ask myself the same questions.  What if I couldn't find my family?  What if this was in fact the Big One.  What if?  What if there were no phones, no electricity, not even running water!  My imagination kicks into high gear.  Maybe it happens in the dead of night.  Then just as quickly, I calm myself back down, with the realization that I am ready.  I have prepared.  My family and I have talked about an emergency plan.  I have done everything humanly possible to make sure that my family is safe..  Have you?  In today's world who knows what the next big something might be.  It could be the BIG ONE or perhaps something as sinister as another terrorist attack.  No one wants to think about this.  But.. Are you prepared?  Do you have an Emergency Kit?  Does your family have a plan?  Don’t wait until it’s too late.  Take control of your life to the

best of your ability.  If you are not sure what to do to prepare you can log on to www.pnsn.com and go to Hazards/Preparedness section.  There you will find everything you need to put together a Safe Plan.  For those who do not have access to a computer, please contact your nearest Red Cross. Be Smart.  Be Prepared.  I am.  Are you?

All of us know we cannot stop a disaster, but we can make a difference.  By each of us working toward preparing our homes and families, in the event of a National Catastrophe, we will not need to feel helpless.   What if you were traveling and a disaster occurred ?  Would you know where to go?  Do you have the knowledge it takes to survive?  What happens if you cannot get help?  Do you have the ability to perform CPR if necessary?  Our actions now may be what saves a life someday, maybe even our own.  Prepare now.

Are you prepared?
