Remove Mildew From Beach Chairs

An easy way to save your beach chairs from mildew damage.

Mildew on beach chairs can be annoying and hazardous to your health, instead of throwing away your money you can easily clean off the mildew and restore your furniture.

You will need a couple of items to make the solution at home; the following items are as follows:

  1. 1 cup of ammonia
  2. ½ cup of white vinegar
  3. ¼ cup of baking soda
  4. 1 gallon of water
  5. 1-2 recycled tooth brushes
  6. 1-2 wash cloths
  7. 1 cleaning bucket

How to Make the Cleaning Solution

You will want to combine the ammonia, white vinegar, baking soda and water together in the cleaning bucket. I suggest that you use an old stick or perhaps even a broom handle from an old broom. You should be very mindful if you have any breathing issues such as: asthma, emphysema, or a respiratory illness like a cold. The fumes from the ammonia can trigger difficulty in breathing; if you suffer from respiratory issues have someone else perform the cleaning for you.

What to Do With the Cleaning Solution

Once solution is made, you will want to use the wash cloth with the solution to wipe off the mildew. Putting rubber gloves on will be a safe way of coming in contact with this solution.

When finish cleaning the mildew with your wash cloths, you should then take the recycled tooth brushes and dip them into the solution. You will be using the tooth brushes to access the creases and corners that may be more difficult to reach just using your wash cloths.

Rinse and Air Dry

After you have cleaned your chairs as best as possible I suggest that you take a garden hose to rinse your furniture with cold water. Leave your furniture in an outdoor area where the sun can do the drying for you.

I will be trying this on my window sills aswell, although I'll be getting a man to mix the solution.(I'm not sexist) Good tip though.
